This study analyzes the audiovisual records and archives held by the National Archives of Japan and examines the issues associated with their management procedures. In Japan, most of the audiovisual records produced by Japanese government agencies were created through commissioned production. Many of the master negatives and videotapes transferred from the<\/p>\n

Cabinet Office to the National Archives of Japan in the Japanese fiscal year 2013 were created through outsourcing and have been managed by the private sector ever since under special business practices. This study finds that these management procedures may have caused a delay in the transfer of audiovisual records to archival institutions, considering that the lawsand regulations of the past do not necessarily facilitate the transfer of audiovisual records. To compensate for the inadequacies prevalent in the current system, this study suggests that a new management procedure should be adopted.<\/p>\n

The GLBT History Museum was created by the GLBT Historical Society in the Castro District, San Francisco, the United States in 2011. The society was initially focused on the collecting related materials and on the research based on them but it eventually realized the significance of exhibition both for outreaching the general public and for encouraging those who had been left marginalized and invisible in a society regain their self-respect and donate their holdings to the museum.
