This paper discusses how traditional concepts in archival science have been reconsidered since the 1990s,<\/p>\n

when the problem of \u201creconciliation\u201d with indigenous peoples was raised in Australian society. Next, the<\/p>\n

significance of the newly created concepts will be clarified. Traditional archival theory has presupposed the<\/p>\n

connection between records and the creator, and the form of a document as records created in the transaction<\/p>\n

of business. However, it was based on an asymmetrical relationship with the subject of records and with oral<\/p>\n

memory. And the \u201carchival multiverse\u201d inspired by the indigenous ways of knowing is presented as a new<\/p>\n

concept that overcomes this Western thinking. We will consider how this new concept looks into the future of<\/p>\n

recordkeeping and archiving.<\/p>\n

The attempt to overcome the asymmetry of historical materials and texts is deeply related to the<\/p>\n

movement to guarantee diversity in society. This manuscript will organize the long accumulation of historical<\/p>\n

research and historical descriptions, focusing on the study of popular history, Buraku history, Ainu history, and<\/p>\n

urban history in early modern Japanese history. The manuscript also notes criticism of the methods primarily<\/p>\n

used in historical research, and problems in the preservation and publication of historical materials and official<\/p>\n

documents on minority groups, with a focus on the history of the Ainu. Through the above work, I will<\/p>\n

examine the possibilities and problems of the conference theme \u201cSocial Diversity and Archiving,\u201d from the<\/p>\n
